Director, Commodity Management

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and implement a global strategic sourcing and commodity purchasing strategy.  Determine global purchasing directions, design novel techniques for commodity sourcing, drive new materials innovations, and develop a phased plan and management structures to be put in place for programs execution.
  • Establish and lead commodity team members, enhance individual capabilities and subject expertise.
  • Develop spend strategies, identify potential supplier partners, analyse supplier capabilities, select suppliers and determine prices, terms, and conditions of agreements.
  • Drive localisation of key components and raw materials, review and negotiate contracts with new and existing supplier partners.
  • Strengthen collaborations between supplier partners and manufacturers, supervise supplier quality to ensure industry/company quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Regular tracking of global industry trends, ensure up to date database is developed and maintained.
  • Establish cost models, ensure constant monitoring on quality and spend of materials and supply chain services. 
  • Advocate cooperation between internal teams and drive win-win.
The Candidate
  • In-depth understanding of global commodity markets, trends and technologies.
  • At least 10 years of global/regional strategic sourcing and commodity management experience. 
  • Track record of implementing purchasing strategies and handling complex cross functional challenges.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to establish and execute strategic plans to achieve long term growth, efficiency, pricing and cost saving objectives.
  • Strong connections with raw material vendors (e.g. resin, paper, packaging and printing etc.) across multiple geographical regions.
  • Solid stakeholder management experience and superior negotiation skills.
  • Pragmatic and hands-on problem solver with legal agreement and contracting knowledge.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
  • Work experience in a MNC leading a regional team in Asia.
