Key Responsibilities
  • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers (local and overseas). Negotiate purchasing terms and delivery schedules; assess suppliers’ reputation, reliability and customer service. Maintain a detailed record of the current supply of goods on hand.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures. Control department budget and manage the company’s computerized purchasing system.
  • Maintain regular communication with Executive Chef and Restaurant Managers to monitor inventory levels of the supplies, as well as to anticipate consumer trends and predict the kind and amount of goods required.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions.
  • Inspect deliveries and monitor the quality of various brands and products. Attend industry trade shows and exhibitions to reach more suppliers.  Keep abreast of industry news and new product availability.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
  • Regularly review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Conduct regular visits and meetings with the appointed suppliers and verify any new suppliers.
  • Attend management meetings and make recommendations on purchases to upper management.
The Candidate
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the Food & Beverage OR Hotel industry.
  •  As a financial administrator, a Purchasing Manager needs good management skills, negotiation expertise, market research capability and communication skills; and should feel comfortable delegating.
  • Degree holder.
  • Budget management and people development experience.
  • Ability to work at an elevated pace with precision and efficiency, in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience in using computerized purchasing systems.
  • Good command of spoken Cantonese and English.
  • Familiarity of European cuisine a plus.
